Evasion Bleue Diving Gear

Evasion Bleue works with local taxi boat operators, as well as runs its own small fleet to cover all dive needs:

• A 10 m (33 ft) covered boat with twin 175 hp engines (ideal for the outer reef)
• A 5.5 m (18 ft) boat with 115 hp (for up to four divers)
• A 5 m (16 ft) boat with 40 hp (great for close-to-shore exploration)

The dive operator also has full sets of dive equipment and snorkel gear available, plus extras like tanks, regulators, jackets, fins and shorties. Admittedly, the gear has seen a lot of action, especially the fins, but the gear that matters is well-maintained.

When Does Evasion Bleue Operate Dive Tours?

Here's something you'll want to know before booking: Evasion Bleue runs different operations depending on the day of the week.

At weekends, they fire up the large boat for epic adventures outside the lagoon to the absolute best dive sites.

During the week, it's a more intimate affair with their smaller boat staying within the lagoon, ideal for smaller groups of three divers plus the pilot.

Club de Plongée de Futuna Diving Gear

Although there are no boats (yet), Corine has put together an impressive collection of diving equipment that'll make your underwater adventures in Futuna seamless. From what we've experienced, her setup is particularly brilliant for travellers who prefer not to lug heavy gear across the Pacific.

Here's the good news: your standard dive price covers all the essential heavy equipment. You'll get your steel tank, BCD and regulator without any extra charges.

For everything else: dive computers, fins, masks, snorkels and wetsuits, there's a small rental fee.

There are also underwater cameras available, though you're welcome to bring your own if you've got one. The association's equipment is reliable and well-maintained, though note that the steel tanks are heavy and may take a few minutes to get used to during your dive.

The centre is affiliated with FFESSM and ANMP, the top-tier French diving federations. That means you can train all the way from Level 1 to Level 3, with theory taught under a traditional fale and practicals in the pristine lagoon.
